چکیده

We examine how responsive offenders are to illegal monetary incentives. draw from rational choice theory, prospect and models of labor supply develop expectations regarding the relationship between criminal efficiency, which is average earnings per offense, frequency offending. use OLS, fixed effects, first-difference estimators analyze data 152 incarcerated male inmates Quebec, Canada study within individual monthly changes in efficiency offending frequency. There an inverse offending, net for market crimes, but not property crimes. also find that crime inelastic, meaning it highly sensitive wage changes. In months have bigger pay-off crime, they offended less frequently. conjecture this negative could be explained by two mechanisms: income effect and/or through reference dependence. However, we able disentangle mechanisms. Moreover, note likely endogenous should treated as such future scholarship.

Neural responses to monetary incentives in younger and older adults.

Reward anticipation is associated with activity in the dopaminergic midbrain as well as the ventral striatum, amygdala, and medial prefrontal cortex. Dopaminergic neuromodulation declines with age, suggesting that incentive processing should also undergo age-related change. However, the literature is mixed, perhaps reflecting variation in the degree to which tasks made demands on learning and m...

Neural responses to monetary incentives in major depression.

In the present study, we compared neural correlates of monetary incentive processing in unmedicated depressed participants and never-depressed control subjects. METHODS Fourteen currently depressed and 12 never-depressed participants underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging...

Neural responses to monetary incentives among self-injuring adolescent girls-CORRIGENDUM.

Rates of self-inflicted injury among adolescents have risen in recent years, yet much remains to be learned about the pathophysiology of such conduct. Self-injuring adolescents report high levels of both impulsivity and depression behaviorally. Aberrant neural responding to incentives, particularly in striatal and prefrontal regions, is observed among both impulsive and depressed adolescents, a...

Testing this applicability on a cross-section of industrial salespeople, we found pay plans with higher variable proportions can lead to higher levels of intrinsic motivation. As hypothesize...
